Sustainability Engineer
Our Client are a large Main Contractor involved in numerous large-scale construction with a number of projects in excess of €50m.
They are seeking an experienced Sustainability Engineer with experience in the construction industry to add to their growing team. Reporting to the Irish Management Team but with significant opportunity for advancement. This role will be based on a large scale food manufacturing and distribution facility being built in South Co. Kildare.
The Sustainability Engineer will be responsible for implementing strategy, driving innovation and providing environmental assurance across our Client’s Irish Division. As a Sustainability Advisor to the division, you will have the drive to provide environmental assurance and technical capabilities to support project leaders and the delivery teams from pre-construction through to completion and handover.
Responsibilities
• Undertake the role of ‘Sustainability Lead’ for high profile projects and clients.
• Understand & apply the range of current and proposed net- zero carbon/ sustainability related legislation and guidance to project solutions e.g. Building Regulations, Planning Policy, Net-zero carbon definitions, proposals etc.
• An understanding of BREEAM and other environmental assessment methodologies (Accreditation with BREEAM/LEED/WELL/NABERS would be an advantage)
• Engage with supply chain and Procurement functions to maximise environmental sustainability benefits and meet client requirements.
• Lead teams preparing Energy & Sustainability Statements for developments to complement planning submissions. This will include coordination and managing energy / sustainability contributions from many different design team stakeholders.
• Contribute towards bid and proposal documents.
• Contribute to business development.
• Statistical reporting and analysis.
• Monitor and measure environmental performance and undertake inspections or audits of the projects.
• Promote the reduction of energy use and carbon emissions and the implementation of waste reduction and managing with leanness.
Requirements
• Degree in engineering/environmental or sustainability related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience working in carbon management with responsibility for implementing carbon management systems and standards.
• Strong understanding of carbon governance and accounting processes with experience gathering data and creating reports on a project basis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
