Brightpath Recruitment is currently seeking a Materials Manager for our client, a medical device company that provide advanced extrusions and catheter design, development and manufacturing services. They have their own custom extrusions and contract medical devices that are supplied to the cardiology, peripheral vascular, neuro vascular, CVC, urology, respiratory and other clinical markets.

The Materials Manager is to manage the purchasing and supply of quality raw materials, supplies and consumables to adequately support the production schedule in a cost-effective manner while minimising inventories.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a company during a period of expansion.  You will be responsible for leading the Warehouse team and developing this team. This is a permanent role with an attractive salary and benefits package.

Responsibilities:
  • Purchase raw materials, production supplies and capital
  • Work with the Manufacturing Managers to plan materials to meet production schedules
  • Work with the technical team to identify and deliver components to meet new product requirements
  • Develop relations with key vendors and work with them to source and identify new materials
  • Lead the warehouse team (People Manager)
  • Manage the receipt of raw materials and supplies in accordance with the Medical quality system
  • Implement stock management and purchasing control systems
  • Manage shipment of finished product, samples and equipment through packing and organisation of appropriate cost-effective transportation and generation of documentation as per the Medical quality system.
  • Manage inventory through cycle counting, effective location management and accurate record keeping
  • Maintain warehouse areas to a high level of GMP, housekeeping and safety
  • Identify process improvements and lead teams to investigate any areas of concern using Six-Sigma
  • Work on projects within own area and across other functional areas-define project goals /gain buy in with stakeholders, set milestones/project budgets and monitor following implementation
  • Provide guidance to project teams in relation to their tasks
What you need to succeed: 
  • Materials management qualification is desirable
  • Ideally possess a strong working knowledge of plastics and plastic processing technologies
  • Previous experience in Supply Chain Management Project Planning and Execution
  • Previous experience in a medical device/pharmaceutical manufacturing and have a good knowledge of ISO ISO13485:2003, specifically in the areas of Change Control and Validation.
  • Project Management skills/experience would be desirable
