PMIT Planner

The role

To facilitate and manage all aspects of planning through the Northern Powergrid PMIT programming and scheduling tool, relating to all New Connectionsmall works awarded from Northern Powergrid as part of the Cable Engineering Services Framework.

To maximise efficiency in planning by adhering to the post code planning initiative.

To communicate effectively and efficiently with other members of the project team in prioritising workloads  and client expectations and that those expectations are managed effectively.

To collect job packs from NPG depots and return them in a timely manner to the planning department for processing and issuing to site management personnel.

To pro-actively seek to fill any gaps in the PMIT programme to maximise use of available resources.

To collect, check and log job packs and make these available to the Planning Manager in a timely manner.

To ensure PMIT generated work is entered into the Job Flow system.

To liaise with the general administration team to ensure job packs have been prepared in readiness of scheme commencement.


 The post holder will be accountable to the Planning Manager.

 Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of PMIT planning from NPG depot Stockton.

  • Liaise with engineers, site management and local highways authorities where required.

  • Communicate effectively with Planning Manager and client to ensure sufficient availability of work.

  • To attend and contribute towards planning and programming meetings as required.

  • To report as required on all aspects of planning performance.

Essential Attributes

Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience of planning, scheduling and programming

  • Experience of demonstrating good communication skills and of prioritising works effectively.

  • Experience of demonstrating working to tight timescales effectively.

  • Experience of implementing, following and amending procedures for the purpose of service delivery as dictated by the client and internal procedures.

  • Basic knowledge of Utility works regulatory requirements.

  • The candidate should be computer literate / proficient with the following disciplines

    • MS Word

    • MS Excel

    • Microsoft Outlook

Candidates should be professional; self motivated with good communication skills and be able to integrate fully into the client’s project delivery team.
