 KEY QUALITIES

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the trade area post apprenticeship or relevant experience within a similar industry
  • FETAC Level 6 accreditation or equivalent including but not limited to Solas (formally FÁS) apprenticeship, City & Guilds apprenticeship or higher
  • Ability to read drawings, follow detailed work instructions and procedures
  • Interest in ensuring quality of work standards are high
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Problem solving skills, ability to fault find electrical systems
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Good numerical ability
  • Proven experience in maintenance of electrical systems, Industrial equipment or Transport equipment
  • It is desirable that applicants will have experience in these areas from Railway, Automotive, Aeronautics, Electronic or Industrial equipment Industries
  • ICT skills
  • History of Continuous Professional Development CPD.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carries out all exams on all fleets
  • Complete fault finding on failed components
  • Complete modifications to improve safety and reliability
  • Inspects defective equipment and diagnosis malfunctions using the appropriate test instruments
  • Repairs and maintains automotive and mechanical equipment and machinery
  • Reads job orders and observes/listens to operating equipment to determine electrical faults
  • Undertakes preventative maintenance
  • Reassemble equipment and test equipment after repairs
  • Complies with pre-determined maintenance schedules/ scheduled exams
  • Conducts exams as per specification and instruction
  • Maintains a clean and tidy work space at all times
  • Adheres to safe working practices at all times
  • Uses appropriate tools and equipment correctly and in a safe manner
  • Reports on work completed and potential defects
