Civil Design Coordinator / Senior Civil Engineer - Water

Who you’ll be working for:
With almost 50 years experience working on heavy civil projects, offices across the UK and Ireland, a growing and successful civil engineering company working on major ground work projects across the UK, have a current need for an experienced Design Coordinator / Senior engineer to join them on a permanent basis, initially on a project in Cumbria.
This role will be based in Cumbria, on a 10/4 rotation, with travel and accommodation provided, along with continual training and development plans for the successful candidate.

What you’ll need to have:
The successful candidate will have a Degree level qualification in civil engineering / construction, EUSR safety passport holder (or equivalent), be fully conversant with the relevant industry design assurance process and drawing management. Be aware of accident, incident and near miss reporting and investigation (COMPASS) and have an understanding of HS&E Management System and requirements .

Successful candidates will have worked on major water industry projects, having carried out roles such as: Pipeline design role, Site based designer’s representative, Design Coordinator for a Pipeline Contractor, Temporary Works Coordinator, with M&E experience being advantageous 

What you’ll be doing:
We have an immediate requirement for Design Coordinator for a site based role in Cumbria. We require a professional, competent and highly motivated Senior Engineer to lead an expanding Engineering Team within the company.
The role is to provide a professional advice and support to the construction team as and when required. You will have experience and a detailed understanding of the application of Design Management, verification and assurance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards, recommendations, guidelines and codes of practice as required by clients 
  • Where applicable lead the planning and delivery of the Design Management procedure 
  • Provide expert advice to the Project Manager and the Project H&S Manager on the Safety by Design aspects of the design 
  • Ensure that the temporary works register is being maintained and reviewed by competent engineers 
  • Review and accept the design management plan and CDM Risk Register attend Design reviews and maintain the Design Review Register 
  • Ensure that design progress meetings are held Management of Quality Assurance and preparation of the Safety File 
What you’ll get in return:
An excellent package will be put in place for the successful candidate, with a salary that reflects your experience and abilities to date. Salary will be in the region of £40,000 - £50,000 dependent on experience, including, living away allowance, Travel and Accommodation as required.
